Jeffrey L. Boney has proudly called Missouri City’s District B home since 2000. Over the past two decades, he has served the community in numerous capacities, always with a heart for empowering people. As founder and CEO of the Texas Business Alliance, Jeffrey has helped countless minority- and women-owned businesses grow through development, training, and strategic guidance

After 11 years with Washington Mutual Bank, Jeffrey followed his passion for economic empowerment. He served as President and CEO of the Greater Houston Black Chamber and co-founded The Black Dollar Project, aimed at strengthening economic power in underserved communities.

Jeffrey has received numerous awards and recognition for his civic and community involvement and his leadership skills. He is an American Leadership Forum (ALF) Class XLIV Fellow and a graduate of Project Blueprint, a United Way leadership program, who awarded him the Dorothy F. Caram Commitment to Leadership Award on behalf of the United Way. His contributions to the business arena have positively impacted and financially empowered many communities.
Continuing his commitment to public service, Jeffrey continues to serve on the Board of Directors for the Houston-Galveston Area Council, extending his impact on regional planning, economic development, and infrastructure; board member for PeopleFund and the Julius and Lenora Carter Scholarship and Youth Foundation; President of the Jack Yates National Alumni Association (JYNAA); member of the 100 Black Men of America; past board member for the Better Business Bureau (BBB); past board member and Class XXVII graduate of Leadership Houston, an organization that annually trains an elite group of active business and civic leaders to effect positive change in Houston; past board member for The Forge for Families; and is an active volunteer with several community organizations.

Jeffrey L. Boney currently serves as a City Councilmember in Missouri City, Texas, first elected in 2017. He is a dedicated public servant and nationally recognized leader in local government, business development, and community advocacy.
Jeffrey serves on the National League of Cities (NLC) Board of Directors and is the Chair of the NLC Community and Economic Development Federal Advocacy Committee. He is also a board member of the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials (NBC-LEO) and a committed member of the NLC’s Race, Equity, and Leadership (REAL) Council, where he helps shape national policy on equity and community empowerment.
In addition to his public service, Jeffrey is a nationally award-winning journalist and Associate Editor of the historic Forward Times newspaper. He contributes regularly to the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA) Newswire and Black Press USA, and is a frequent guest on radio stations across the country. His media expertise has earned him national visibility, including appearances on CNN Headline News, The Nancy Grace Show, and Crime & Justice with Ashleigh Banfield.
A former bank executive with Washington Mutual Bank, Jeffrey is also a seasoned entrepreneur. He is the President and CEO of JLB Global Consulting and Real Talk Media Group, LLC, and a Principal Partner of The Boney Insurance Group. His previous roles include serving as President and CEO of the Greater Houston Black Chamber and founding the Texas Business Alliance, an organization dedicated to strengthening minority- and women-owned businesses.
Jeffrey has served as an Adjunct Professor, in the School of Business Administration at Houston Community College. He is a dynamic, international speaker with a no-nonsense approach to business and leadership development, community engagement and economic empowerment.
Jeffrey is a graduate of Texas Southern University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. He was also awarded an Honorary Doctorate degree in Organizational Leadership from Juliana King University in 2017.
